Burnout isn’t just tiredness or excessive stress.
It goes way deeper.
It’s emotional patterns that have given you drive, ambition, ability to achieve.
And it’s exactly those patterns that are burning you up. Making you irritable, feeling like you never arrive even if you achieve or achieved.
That continuous fight response might have even started to cost you your health and relationships.
Coaching to achieve more doesn’t cut it and cognitive treatments don’t get you any further.
You need fundamental change.
You create nervous system responses to deal with stress when young. Those ‘choices’ form neural pathways that in turn create your character, your choices and direction in life.
Those ‘choices’ are often made out of survival due to being exposed to prolonged stresses when growing up.
Those stresses might have been from unregulated parents when growing up, family dynamics that were unhealthy, or other forms of pressure on you.
Examples are: having to live up to rigid standards from your parents, teachers, siblings. Compensating for feeling unworthy, invalidated, or maybe you have even gone through some form of abuse or neglect.
Your response to survive was to fight. Fight to get recognition, fight to achieve, fight to be someone worthy.
The drawback to all of that is that it comes out of compensation.
Out of pain.
And thus you are not free. You are bound by your past.
Executive coaching will give you more of the same. It feeds into the old pattern rather than addressing it. It’s a one way street.
Cognitive behavioral treatment can help to create awareness about your patterns but won’t help you access emotional residue and process it. It’s cognitive work after all.
Mindfulness and regular meditation are unlikely to address your core issues. Your executive burnout isn’t just about relaxing and getting through the fatigue.
You need to go deeper to make fundamental change.
You need both cognitive and somatic work combined.
Cognitive helps you map what happened to you, how you responded, what patterns were formed, and why they keep playing out.
Somatic helps you process the emotional residue that’s held in your body and that’s been driving these patterns.
You need to process emotion to be able to implement long lasting change.
Release without cognitive understanding will often lead to a rebuild up of emotion. Cognitive work without emotional processing doesn’t free up the energy to build new systems.
These steps are what is missing from most conventional approaches of coaching, therapy, and meditation.
I’ve been working with private clients in this field for nearly 25 years, helping thousands of people recover from patterns formed in childhood. Many were high achievers whose drive came from compensating for what they didn’t get growing up.
I’ve seen this pattern hundreds of times. The fight response that built your success. The nervous system stuck in overdrive. The burnout that follows.
My approach combines cognitive framework with somatic work. Understanding what happened AND processing what’s held in your body.
I won’t sugarcoat this. The work can be messy, and there will be breakdowns before breakthroughs. But it’s what actually creates fundamental change at the nervous system level.
This isn’t executive coaching. It’s nervous system work for people who know something fundamental has to shift.
Typical work with me is 10-20 sessions spread over 6-12 months. We start intensive, then space out as you integrate.
In that time, you will make profound changes.
Those changes could involve restructuring major parts of your life—where you live, who you are with, how you spend your time.
You might sell or buy a house, start a new venture, shift careers.
In short, setting up your life differently.
Health improves. The chronic issues from nervous system overdrive start resolving. Sleep gets better, energy returns, you’re less reactive.
What shifts most is the drive itself. The compulsion loosens. You’re not running on compensation anymore. You choose based on what you actually want, not what you think you need to be safe.
This isn’t work-life balance. It’s dismantling what was running you and building something real.
Start with a free discovery call. No sales pitch. We talk about where you are and whether this approach fits.
If it does, we work in 10-session packages. That gives you real runway to dismantle patterns, not just manage symptoms.
Sessions are typically weekly at the start, then we space them out as you integrate.
In sessions, we combine cognitive work with somatic processing. You’ll understand the patterns that formed AND process what’s held in your body.
This isn’t talk therapy.
You’re doing actual nervous system work.
